I created Quarterback Law to give clients a better experience in commercial legal advice. I take the time to understand your business and to give you the best experience when working with
a lawyer.
Why did I call it Quarterback Law? Because I believe that a lawyer should be an integral part of the client’s team, and work with the team to reach their goals. A lawyer’s performance impacts the whole team, and the right lawyer can get the team into a winning position.

We provide commercial legal advice to businesses – generally small and medium sized businesses. We specialise in contract drafting, technology and commercial law to help businesses get on with their daily operations without legal roadblocks. That could range from the basic website terms of use or a non-disclosure agreement, through to major IT, outsourcing or distribution contracts. Dane has worked extensively internationally, and also advises Australian and international clients to expand their footprint overseas. He advises on contracts with international counterparts, disputes and engaging international counsel.
Generally, we meet our clients online. Quarterback’s clients are from all over the world, so we are well versed in Teams and Zoom.
An In-house Counsel is a company’s dedicated lawyer, who has an overview of all the legal issues with the business. I can work with your business to either be the management team’s “go-to” legal advisor, or with the legal team to help during busy period. This is a tailored, flexible solution to help businesses get the legal support they need.
Most of our work is done on a fixed fee basis, and we don’t incur fees until you have given us the green light. Everything will be set out in an engagement letter, so there will be no surprises. Where a fixed fee arrangement doesn’t make sense, we bill on hourly rates that represent excellent value.
No, we don’t handle litigation, but we can assist companies by co-ordinating with their litigation counsel. This suits companies with a higher volume of litigation to ensure a consistent strategy across cases.
We also don’t do debt collection, wills or conveyances.
